CHENNAI: The Greater Chennai Corporation said that if parking charges in the city exceed the permissible charge limit, the public can register their complaints on the helpline number 1913.

“Under special projects of the city, parking management charges are permitted to be collected by a private company for providing parking related services on contract basis. To avoid such issues among the public, people will complain if additional fees are collected in the city,” said an official release from Ripon Building on Sunday. stated in.

Parking charges across the city, including the parking lots in T Nagar, are Rs 20 per hour for four-wheelers and Rs 5 per hour for two-wheelers.

However, at Pondy Bazaar, a special parking fee is charged where Rs 60 per hour for four-wheelers and Rs 15 per hour for two-wheelers.

If a parking lot charges more than the prescribed fee, motorists should complain to the civic body through phone number 1913, or through social media platforms and the municipal corporation’s website.

The statement said that the corporation officials assured to take immediate action against the contractors.

“We are not aware of the parking charges set by the civic body, we are forced to pay the charges demanded by them. Those who know about the charges question the staff and pay the actual parking charges The local body should create awareness among the people.
