Guirdolim thump Cuncolim
Guirdolim Sports Club put on a clinical display of attacking football, crushing Cuncolim Union 4-0 at the DSYA ground, Curtorim on Tuesday to advance to the quarterfinals of the 13th Wilred Leisure Soccer Cup.
Brivon Dias was the hero of the match, bagging a brace and earning the Man of the Match award for his stellar performance.
The score line hardly reflected the one-sided nature of the match, as Guirdolim controlled proceedings from the very beginning.
They broke the deadlock in the 38th minute through Brivon Dias, who finished off a well-constructed move with a composed strike. Brivon doubled his tally just 15 minutes into the second half, pouncing on a defensive error from the Cuncolim custodian who failed to hold on to a ball he blocked, to slot home past the Cuncolim Union goalkeeper.
Guirdolim continued to pile on the pressure, and their dominance paid off again in the 48th minute when Sildon Peixoto found the net sending the game well past Cuncolim 3-0.
To rub salt in the wound, Sevaraj D’Costa within five minutes of being substituted in added another goal in the 59th minute to put the game beyond doubt for Cuncolim Union.
Despite their best efforts, Cuncolim Union struggled to create any clear-cut chances throughout the match. Their defense was often stretched thin, and Guirdolim’s attackers exploited the spaces effectively.
