New Delhi. The Health Department of the Delhi government has issued a show cause notice to Agarwal Medical Center to cancel its registration and shut it down. Two days ago, the police had arrested four people, including three doctors of the centre, for performing surgeries on patients without proper degrees. The notice read, “Agarwal Medical Center located at E-234, Greater Kailash Part-1, New Delhi-110048 has been registered with this Directorate under Section 5 of the Delhi Nursing Home Registration Act, 1953 for three beds for the period 2021-24. Is registered with. Nursing home registration is valid till 31.03.2024.
“A complaint was received from Sub Inspector, GK-1 police station and Deputy Commissioner of Police, South District on dates 30.10.2023 and 31.10.2023 mentioning the death of eight people during and after the operation, while one patient “Lost my uterus.” It said a show cause notice has been sent to the medical center seeking its reply within a month as to why an order to cancel its registration should not be issued. According to the police, on October 10, 2022, a woman from Sangam Vihar lodged a complaint that her husband had undergone operation to remove gallstones at the center on September 19, 2022. Initially, Dr. Neeraj Aggarwal claimed that renowned surgeon Dr. Jaspreet Singh would perform the surgery. However, just before the surgery, he was told that due to some emergency, Dr. Jaspreet Singh would not perform the operation, which Dr. Mahendra Singh performed along with Dr. Neeraj Aggarwal and Dr. Pooja.
The woman has said in her complaint that later it was found out that Dr. Mahendra Singh and Dr. Pooja are fake doctors. The woman said in her complaint that her husband suffered severe pain after the surgery and was taken to Safdarjung Hospital where he was declared brought dead. Deputy Commissioner of Police, South Chandan Choudhary said that investigation has revealed that Dr. Jaspreet Singh was not present during the surgery and had made fake documents. Seven complaints were filed with the Delhi Medical Council against Agarwal Medical Center for causing death of patients due to negligence. On 27 October 2023, another patient Jai Narayan died after surgery. A medical board found deficiencies at the medical center on November 1, 2023. Further investigation revealed that Dr. Neeraj Aggarwal had repeatedly prepared fake documents.
“The postmortem report of deceased Asghar Ali states the cause of death as hemorrhagic stroke due to complications of laparoscopic cholecystectomy,” the DCP said. Police on Tuesday arrested Dr Neeraj Aggarwal, his wife Pooja Aggarwal, a former assistant who was allegedly pretending to be Dr Pooja Aggarwal, former lab technician Mahendra and Dr Jaspreet Singh, who prepared the surgery notes. . The arrests were based on substantial evidence of surgeries being conducted by unqualified persons. The police also recovered and seized 414 prescription slips, which contained only doctors’ signatures after leaving considerable space at the top of the prescription slips, and two registers containing details of patients whose abortions were performed at the hospital. “Several banned medicines were recovered, along with several injections and expired surgical blades and original prescription slips of various patients,” the DCP said.
