Health Minister flags off mobile clinic to detect cancer and heart diseases

Bengaluru: Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao on Saturday flagged off ‘Wellness on Wheels’, an advanced mobile clinic that will travel across the state and focus on preventive screening and diagnosis of heart and cancer diseases.

According to officials, this is a social initiative of Volvo Group, which has built and provided this advanced, connected mobile community clinic in partnership with Narayana Health in collaboration with the Government of Karnataka.

The Department of Health and Family Welfare will provide infrastructure support for mobile clinics in government hospitals and primary health centers to provide necessary check-ups for patients.

“This initiative ‘Wellness on Wheels’ is set to reach out to districts, taluks, rural areas and slums in different parts of Karnataka to provide necessary support to the economically deprived sections of the society,” an official statement said. “

The mobile clinic has been specially designed, customized and equipped with advanced screening equipment along with non-invasive diagnostic equipment including ultrasound, ECG and X-ray to detect cancer and heart diseases.

According to the statement, to enable telemedicine and consultation with specialists at Narayana Health Hospital in Bengaluru, the vehicle is Wi-Fi enabled and is provided with high-end laptops, which are specially configured for doctors. , to facilitate remote communication and provide expert advice. -Go.

The 42-feet long, specially designed, giant mobile clinic is air-conditioned, equipped with a diagnostic lab, a chemical toilet, and is independently powered by on-board power sources. It said the vehicle has storage space to keep umbrellas and chairs for waiting patients.

Speaking at the launch, Dr Devi Prasad Shetty, Chairman, Narayana Health, said, “Late diagnosis of the disease makes it harder to treat and alleviate the patient’s condition – which unfortunately is a norm today. “If we can move forward, we can save a lot of lives.” Early diagnosis. This mobile clinic will usher in a culture of preventive healthcare by reaching out to the economically weaker and under-served sections of the country, thereby helping in saving precious lives.”
