Heroin worth Rs 11 crore seized
Guwahati: Assam Police has made significant progress by dismantling the interstate drug trafficking network and recovering heroin worth Rs. 11 crores. The 1.35 kg drug consignment, packed in 98 soap boxes, was hidden in a hidden compartment inside a car coming from Manipur’s Churachandpur district. Police stopped the car in Amingaon, Guwahati.
Tomizur Rahman of Wangoi and Abdul Rahim of Lilong, Manipur, both drug smugglers, were caught. DIG, STF Partha Sarathi Mahanta and Additional SP (Headquarters), Kamrup Kalyan Kumar Pathak carried out the operation.

Earlier, the Special Task Force had seized a huge quantity of heroin worth around Rs 1.2 crore and arrested a smuggler named Baten Ali of Bheragaon under Kalgachia police station. According to sources, based on the information, an operation was launched in the early hours, led by Kalyan Pathak, Additional SP, under the direct supervision of Partha Sarathi Mahant, DIG, STF and the team stopped an Arunachal bound bus. Registration AR 01Q 0757 in Baihata. When stopped, the team recovered 10 boxes of heroin and several uncapped vials weighing 150 grams each. Necessary legal action is being initiated.
Earlier, the police had arrested a drug smuggler with a huge quantity of ganja from Garigaon area. According to sources, Jalukbari police conducted an operation in Garigaon area, where the team arrested a peddler named Biki Chaudhary. However, after receiving information about the action, the hawker’s father fled from the spot. Let us tell you that Biki Chaudhary has been arrested on charges of drug smuggling.
