Hyderabad: Cycle rally organised in Hyderabad on the occasion of World Bicycle Day and No Tobacco Day
Hyderabad: Over 200 participants took part in a 25 km cycle rally organised by Star Hospitals, Gachibowli on Sunday to mark World No Tobacco Day on May 31 and World Bicycle Day on June 3. Organised in association with Hyderabad Cyclists Group and Samata Yuva Sangha, the cycle rally aimed to raise awareness about the ill-effects of tobacco and promote cycling as a healthy lifestyle choice.
Dr Gopichand Mannam, MD, Star Group of Hospitals, said, “The event aims to not only highlight the dangers of tobacco use but also motivate the community to take up cycling for better health.” Walking, cycling and running are the cheapest forms of exercise that are equitable and cost-effective. Ravindra Reddy, president, Hyderabad Cyclists Group Association, said regular physical activity of moderate intensity such as walking, cycling or playing any other sport has significant health benefits for people of all ages.
