Hyderabad: Police to re-investigate ‘U’ turn, CP assures to take appropriate action
Hyderabad: Police will study and re-examine the points where “U” or “unidirectional” turns were introduced, and cancel the decision if it is determined that they are creating problems for motorists. Hyderabad Police Commissioner K Srinivas Reddy said that transit police personnel along with local supervisory officers will visit places where people have objected to the transit police initiative. “If we find that traffic police initiatives cause trouble, we will end them,” he said. The Hyderabad Police Commissioner said that he was aware that in some areas of the city, such vehicles were plying which are not allowed to ply during the day or which fall in the category of prohibited vehicles. “We will soon hold a meeting to discuss and take appropriate steps,” he said. The city police will study the possibility of using security guards working in commercial establishments and educational institutions as traffic volunteers. “The security guards will contribute to decongesting the traffic on their way to their workplace. Participation of other sections of the community in traffic management is also the need of the hour”, said Srinivas Reddy.
