Illegal cutting of trees, more than half a dozen villagers arrested

Kabirdham: A case of illegal cutting of trees has come to light in Bhoramdev Sanctuary area near Kawardha city. The Forest Department, with the help of the police force, has arrested 7 accused of illegal cutting of trees. Action is being taken against all the arrested accused under sections of the Forest Act.

About 50 nearby villagers were illegally cutting trees in beat number 170 room under Bhoramdev Sanctuary of Kabirdham forest range. Which included men and women. When the forest workers came to know about this, the forest workers posted in the area tried to stop the villagers. But the villagers overpowered the forest officers and policemen who went to take action. After which the officials gave advice to the villagers. On receiving the information, a large number of Forest Department and Police Department teams immediately reached the spot. At that time the villagers were cutting trees. Efforts were made to convince the villagers for a long time. But the villagers were not ready to stop encroachment and harvesting. After which the police called police force from Kawardha.

When the armed police force reached the villagers, the villagers got scared. Then the police took the opportunity and with the help of force arrested 7 accused and all were brought to Kawardha. A case has been registered against him under sections of the Forest Act. The police have presented all the seven accused in the court. Police is taking further action in the matter.
