Karnataka: Shobha Karandlaje will take Shabari’s berries to Ayodhya

Koppal: The berries of Shabari Gudda on Anjanadri hill are all set to reach Ayodhya. Many devotees have been offering plums to Lord Hanuman at his birthplace situated on Anjanadri hill.

Archakas gave jamuns to Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje, who visited Anjanadri Hill on Sunday, with a request that she take them to Ayodhya, where a grand Ram temple was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday.

In ancient times, Shabari lived on Rishyamook mountain, which is just 2 km away from Anjanadri mountain. Shabari was an elderly female ascetic in the Hindu epic Ramayana. She was an extremely devoted woman who received the blessings of Lord Rama because of her devotion to him.

In Treta Yuga, Shabari waited for Lord Rama on Rishyamook mountain. He collected plums and after tasting them, gave only the sweet plums to Lord Rama. Therefore the berries of Rishyamook mountain are related to Lord Rama.

Thousands of devotees gathered on Anjanadri hill on Monday, the day of consecration of Ram temple in Ayodhya. Many devotees who came had darshan of Hanuman and chanted Ram’s name and bhajans on the hill.

Former MLA R Srinath handed over the berries to the Union Minister and requested him to name Anjandri in Kishkindha as Sri Ramanjaneya Corridor and allocate Rs 500 crore for the project. Some devotees said, “We are happy that the plums of Rishyamuk Parvat, also known as Shabari Gudda, will reach Ayodhya. “In those days, Lord Ram came here and ate plums fed to him by Shabari.”
