Laborer drowned in canal, Kotwali police searching

Korba. The youth who was washed away in the canal passing near Ratakhar in the district could not be traced even for the second day on Wednesday. A young man, originally from the neighboring state of Jharkhand, went missing after being swept away by the strong current of water while taking a bath on Tuesday. The matter is of City Kotwali area. According to the information, laborer Shamshad Ali (26), originally a resident of Jharkhand, lived on rent in Ratakhar colony. He was supporting himself by working as a labourer.

Shamshad had reached the canal passing near Ratakhar to take bath on Monday. The flow of water here was very strong, due to which he was washed away. People present in the nearby canal tried to save him, but could not find him. After the laborer went missing, the City Kotwali police was informed about the incident. Police reached the spot and lowered divers into the canal, but the youth could not be traced. After this, the search for the missing person is being done by reducing the water in the canal, however till now no success has been achieved in finding him.
