Labourer father rushed to Hyderabad to save his seven-day-old newborn
Raipur. Rajiv Netam, a resident of the village Jhalmala in Balod district, used to work as a labourer. The doctors informed him that his newborn daughter had a heart ailment and advised him to take her to Hyderabad, as that was the place where her condition could be treated. Rajiv took loans and sold his properties to arrange the required funds and took his daughter to Hyderabad. There, his daughter underwent surgery.
When local representatives got to know about this and heard Rajiv’s story of how he had sold everything and taken loans for his daughter’s treatment, they accompanied his mother and visited the Chief Minister’s residence. Upon receiving a phone call about the situation, Chief Minister Shri Baghel personally invited labourer Shri Rajiv Netam to his office and inquired about his daughter’s treatment.
Feeling deeply moved, Chief Minister Baghel showed empathy and immediately announced financial aid of Rs five lakh for the treatment of Rajiv’s daughter. This brought great relief to Rajiv’s mother, Smt. Sharada Mandavi became emotional and expressed that she had heard a lot about ‘Kaka’ (Chief Minister) and was delighted to meet him. She thanked the Chief Minister for alleviating all their worries.
The Chief Minister stated that the health of the people is of utmost importance to them, and thus, they have increased the limit of the Mukhyamantri Vishesh Swasthya Sahayata Yojana to Rs 25 lakh.
