Major Police Reshuffle in Tamil Nadu: 3 DSPs and 17 Officers Transferred

Tamil Nadu: A major reshuffle within the police administration took place in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday. The state government has transferred a total of 17 police officers, including three Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs). These transfers include officers involved in the preliminary investigation of the ‘Karur incident,’ a move that has created a stir within the police department.
According to reports, V. Selvaraj—who was posted as the Deputy Superintendent of Police in Karur city and had conducted the preliminary inquiry into the Karur incident—has been transferred. He has now been assigned a new responsibility as a DSP in the ‘Social Justice and Human Rights’ wing in the Thoothukudi district. Selvaraj was part of the initial investigation team for this case and had visited the crime scene to conduct the first-level inquiry.
Similarly, K.K. Senthilkumar, who was serving as a DSP in Kulithalai city, has also been transferred. He has now been appointed as a DSP in the Social Justice and Human Rights wing in the Cuddalore district. Senthilkumar had been responsible for maintaining law and order in the region for a considerable period and was involved in monitoring various cases at the local level.
Furthermore, P. Abdulkapur, a DSP posted in the Karur Rural sub-division, has also been transferred. He has now been posted as a DSP in the Social Justice and Human Rights wing in the Dharmapuri district. Abdulkapur, too, was overseeing matters related to law and order in the Karur region and played a role in the investigation process regarding the recent incident.
In this comprehensive reshuffle carried out by the state police department, a total of 17 police officers have been assigned new responsibilities. Although this is being described at the administrative level as a routine reshuffle, the transfers of officers linked to the investigation of the Karur incident have sparked intense speculation.
According to sources within the police department, these transfers were effected with a view to maintaining administrative balance and addressing departmental requirements. The newly transferred officers have been instructed to assume charge at their new postings shortly. Following this decision, attention has also focused on the ongoing investigation process in the Karur region, as well as the future strategy of the police administration. Officials state that the transfers will not impact the pace of the investigation, and all procedures will continue in accordance with established regulations.
