Sri Lankan Navy arrests 22 fishermen from Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu: On Thursday, the Sri Lankan Navy arrested 22 Tamil Nadu fishermen on charges of fishing across the border. They also confiscated four of their boats.
Twenty-two fishermen from the Rameswaram and Mandapam areas of Ramanathapuram district had gone to sea in four boats on Wednesday to catch fish.
These 22 men were fishing near Katchatheevu when the Sri Lankan Navy arrived and arrested them early Thursday morning on charges of fishing across the border.
They also confiscated their boats. Reports indicate that the Sri Lankan Army is interrogating the 22 arrested fishermen at the Mannar Naval Camp.
The continued arrests of Tamil Nadu fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy have caused great fear and distress among Tamil Nadu fishermen.
In this context, the families of the fishermen arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy and fishing organizations have appealed to the government to rescue them.
