Orissa High Court pronounces 4 students to work as volunteers in orphanage for 1 week as punishment for ragging

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court Cuttack pronounced a disciplinary punishment to 4 law students for ragging their junior. The High Court asked the law students to work as volunteers in an orphanage for one week as a punishment. It also quashed the case pending in the lower court.

The students can choose orphanages of their choice and either teach or arrange a workshop for the children there, instructed the High Court. After choosing the orphanage they should inform the orphanage manager about the Court’s verdict. After finishing volunteering in the orphanage they should receive a certificate from the orphanage authorities.

Hoping for a positive change in the young generation, the Orissa High Court pronounced the judgment. The judicial bench headed by Justice Shiv Shankar Mishra gave this verdict to the four students of a private law college based in Bhubaneswar.
