Plan to make Gevra the largest coal mine in Asia

Bilaspur. Becoming the country’s largest mine by achieving 50 million tonnes annual production at Gevra mine was one of the major achievements of SECL in the year 2023. This year the company aims to make Gevra the largest coal mine in Asia. Now the company is trying to get environmental clearance to increase the annual production capacity of Gevra to 70 million tonnes under the mine expansion plan.

Last year, SECL had decided to develop Manikpur Pokhri located in Korba district as an eco-tourism destination. The implementation of this project will start in the year 2024 and upon completion, it will be the second eco-tourism site of its kind in the state of Chhattisgarh. Earlier, SECL has also developed the closed mine at Kenapara in Surajpur district as an eco-tourism destination, where tourists from far and wide come to enjoy boating and other activities. This tourist destination was praised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself through a tweet.
