Tamil Nadu: Natham Mariamman Temple Masi Peranthiruvizha Flag Hoisting

Tamil Nadu: The Natham Mariamman Temple Masi Peranthiruvizha began on Monday with the flag hoisting ceremony.
The Natham Mariamman Temple is famous in South Tamil Nadu. The temple celebrates the Masi festival for 15 days. This year, on the occasion of the Masi festival, special prayers were offered to Mariamman this morning, and a flag bearing Mariamman’s image was carried around the temple in a procession of torches and lamps. Special prayers were performed and the flag was hoisted on the flagpole in front of the temple.
A flag bearing Mariamman’s image was hoisted, made of flags, reeds, maavilai, and colorful garlands, followed by prayers and lamp offerings. Afterward, Goddess Mariamman rode on a silver peacock chariot and, in her full attire, blessed the devotees. Tomorrow (Tuesday) early in the morning, devotees will take a holy dip at the Kannimar Theertham in Karanthamalai near Natham and gather at the Chandana Karuppu Swamy Temple. Afterward, devotees will be taken in a procession to the Mariamman Temple, carrying water pots on their heads. There, devotees will then tie turmeric bracelets and begin a 15-day fast. Festival activities will continue. The main events of the festival, including climbing the eagle tree, carrying the fire pot, and the Pukuzhi festival, will take place on Tuesday, March 10.
The festival is being organized by the temple’s Executive Officer, Balasaravanan, the temple’s family priests, Ganesh, Gopalakrishnan, Chinnaraj, Krishnamurthy, Suresh, Yuvaraj, Dinesh Kumar, and officials from the Hindu Religious and Endowments Department.
