Punjab: Six shooters from Maharashtra arrested in a joint operation

Punjab: In a joint operation by Punjab Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF) ​​and Maharashtra Police, six shooters suspected to be involved in the triple murder were arrested on Saturday morning. They were nabbed from Sawangi tunnel on Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Super Expressway while they were travelling in a Toyota Innova car (MH26AC5599). Along with the accused, police also arrested another person identified as Gajendra, the driver of the vehicle, who reportedly hails from Nanded. Based on the interrogation of one of the arrested accused and information received through electronic surveillance, AGTF officials, who were chasing the accused, approached Maharashtra Police at around 3 am today seeking help in nabbing them. Following this, a team of Maharashtra Police from Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Police Station in Aurangabad swung into action and in a meticulously conducted operation, they intercepted the accused travelling in a Toyota Innova car from Samruddhi Highway tunnel at around 5.45 am. The police team comprised 10 officers and 40 jawans, including detectives from the Quick Response Team (QRT). They wore bulletproof jackets after receiving information that all the accused were carrying weapons. SSP Saumya Mishra said that a joint operation was launched based on intelligence gathered by the AGTF, following which seven accused were arrested. She said the police had already arrested one accused. The SSP said a Punjab Police team has been sent to bring the accused from Aurangabad to Ferozepur. Earlier on Tuesday, three people, including Jaspreet Kaur (26), her brother Akashdeep Singh (21) and cousin Dildeep Singh (32), were killed. Two of their relatives were injured when six motorcycle-borne assailants fired around 50 bullets at them. It is worth mentioning here that Jaspreet was to get married next month and all of them were going in a car to invite their relatives for the wedding when they were attacked near the gurdwara. Later, on the complaint of deceased Dildeep Singh’s mother Charanjit Kaur, police had registered a case against eight people besides three unidentified persons.
