Rashmika Mandanna’s ‘deepfake’ video goes viral, Amitabh Bachchan demands legal action
Actress Rashmika Mandanna is the latest celebrity to become a victim of cyber crime after a deepfake video of hers was circulated on social media. It shows a woman wearing an attractive outfit and entering an elevator. However, her face has been replaced with Rashmika’s face. As soon as netizens saw the clip, many called it fake and revealed that the real woman in it was Zara Patel, a British Indian who has a massive following on social media.
Apart from netizens, Rashmika’s Goodbye co-star Amitabh Bachchan also called for legal action over this. “Yes, this is a legally strong case,” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
For those who don’t know, Rashmika made her Bollywood debut with the 2022 film Alvida. Directed by Vikas Bahl, the film also stars Neena Gupta, Pavail Gulati, Elli Avram, Sunil Grover and Sahil Mehta in lead roles. The actress played the role of Big B’s daughter.
Sharing her experience of working with the legendary actor, Rashmika wrote on Instagram, “I still can’t believe this is happening. After doing a film with sir, getting a chance to talk to him, to be able to share the same stage with him, to talk.” About similar topics, got a chance to take a photo with him, oh my!! He is such a brilliant actor…a gem of a human being and always argues with me as a reel papa..but oh my god – I am so grateful.
