Retired policeman’s dead body found in bed, wife under suspicion
Jashpur. Last night in Jashpur, in Harradand village of Kunkuri police station area, they entered the house of a retired policeman and beat him with a stick so much that he died before reaching the hospital. Police station in-charge Mallika Tiwari said that the murder incident took place in the house of deceased Prabhat Toppo, at a short distance from Harradand Chowk. People present outside the spot told that deceased Prabhat Toppo (49), father Pascal Toppo was posted as a constable in Raigarh district, who had returned to the village after taking compulsory retirement 5 years ago. The deceased was a habitual drunkard and would often fight while drunk. Neighbors have expressed apprehension that close relatives of the deceased would be involved in this murder. Kunkuri police has taken the deceased’s wife and two relatives to the police station.
Actually, the incident happened last night. The family members are telling that last night Prabhat Toppo had come under the influence of alcohol. Everyone was sleeping in the house. When we woke up in the night, we saw that the deceased was lying unconscious in the bed. In such a situation, he was brought to Kunkuri Hospital where doctors declared him dead. The police were alerted to the information received from the hospital that he had died due to injuries. Police station in-charge Mallika said that Panchnama of the dead body has been prepared and sent for post-mortem. Some suspects are being interrogated in the initial investigation.
