CM Stalin felicitated 500 elderly couples who completed 70 years of age

Tamil Nadu: On behalf of the Chennai Regional Temples, which are under the administrative control of the Hindu Religious Endowments Department, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin honored 500 elderly couples who had reached the age of 70 by presenting them with puja materials, fruits, and auspicious items. A total of 3,000 elderly couples were honored in similar ceremonies held across Tamil Nadu.

In the Hindu Religious Endowments Department’s grant request to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, it was announced that 2,000 elderly couples who had reached the age of 70 would be honored by temples.

To achieve this, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi honored 200 elderly couples in Thiruvallikeni, Chennai, on November 10 last year. Subsequently, 2,000 elderly couples were honored by temples across the state. An event was organized at the Arena in Vepery, Chennai, to honor 20,000 elderly couples on behalf of the temples. He distributed auspicious items like dhoti-shirt, saree-blouse, fruits, turmeric, saffron, glass bangles and saffron powder to 500 elderly couples who had crossed the age of 70. Similarly, 3,000 elderly couples were honoured in functions held across Tamil Nadu on Tuesday.

The event was attended by Charitable Endowments Minister P.K. Sekarbabu, Tavathiru Kunrakudi Ponnambala Adigal, Perur Adhinam Shanthalinga Marudachal Adigal, Sirvai Adhinam Kumaragurupara Swamigal, Mayalam Bommapura Adhinam Sivagnanapalaya Swamigal, Velakurichi Adhinam Satya Gnana Mahadeva Desika Paramasarya Swamigal, Sriperumbudur Jeeya Appan Ulagariya Ramanuja Emba Swamigal, Mayor R. Priya, Lok Sabha member Dayanidhimaran, Assembly members E. Paranthaman, Thayakam Kavi, Vetriyazhagan, Joseph Samuel, Tourism, Culture and Charities Department Additional Chief Secretary K. Manivasan and Charities Department Advisory Committee member Suki Sivam were present.
