Speeding luxury car kills three, driver arrested
Panaji (IANS). A speeding luxury car hit three people in Goa. All three died in this accident. The Goa Police has arrested the car driver.
According to police, the driver of the car, Paresh Sinai Sawardekar, has been arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. Paresh had run over three people with his car on Sunday night.
After the accident, when the police checked the history of this car, it was found that earlier four challans had been issued for over speeding.
Traffic Police Superintendent Bossuet Silva told IANS that the transport department has issued four challans to the vehicle for over-speeding in the past.
He further said that today we inspected the accident site to suggest more road improvements to the PWD. The Superintendent of Traffic Police said that soon his department would submit the report to the concerned department for road improvement.
A speeding Mercedes GLS SUV rammed into three cars and two two-wheelers while on their way to Panaji at Banastari bridge in Ponda taluka, about 17 km from here, on Sunday night, allegedly killing three people. Three others were seriously injured.
The injured were taken to Goa Medical College. According to reports, a pedestrian was also among the dead. The two-wheeler was completely damaged in the collision. When contacted, the Mardol police station was informed by the staff that Savardekar has been arrested under various sections including drunken driving.
Sources said the occupants of the Mercedes were returning from a ‘Friendship Day’ party. Police is further investigating the matter.
