Stone pieces and soil found in fertilizer bag
Chhatarpur : Fertilizer sacks purchased by farmers from warehouses, private shops and government cooperative societies contained pieces of soil and stones.
One such incident came to light when a farmer from Jasgua area of Bijawar development block opened a sack which contained stone chips and soil instead of manure.
Tiwari bought a sack of fertilizer from a government cooperative society in Bijawar, but when he opened it, he found pieces of soil and stones in it. The government’s warehouse marketing association is running the cooperative society from where the fertilizer was purchased.
When the matter was put before Ganesh Prasad Kori, manager of a warehouse in Bijawar, he said that the committees had received thousands of bags of manure.
He said, someone may have filled the bag with fertilizer which was spread on the ground, so pieces of soil and stone got into the bag with the fertilizer.
The official further said that he has spoken to the farmer concerned and he will be given a fresh bag of fertilizer, but there is no question of selling adulterated fertilizer from government cooperative societies.
