Student dies due to snake bite, game of superstition starts again, read the strange case
Moradabad: The family of a 14-year-old student, bitten by a snake under the influence of a snake charmer in Moradabad’s Unchakani village, endured a 12-day wait for his recovery. Despite burying the boy’s body in a pit as advised by the snake charmers, their promised return to revive him never materialized. As a foul odor emitted from the body, the disappointed family eventually cremated him on Tuesday.
Varun, a seventh-grader in Unchakani, fell victim to a snake bite while asleep on November 9, leading to his demise. Subsequently, a snake charmer contacted the family, assuring them of the student’s resurrection. Tricked by the charmer’s influence, they buried Varun’s body per the charmer’s advice.
However, the charmer’s return and the promise of reviving the student never came to fruition. Despite their hopes, the family grew disillusioned as the foul smell intensified. Finally, on Tuesday, they exhumed Varun’s body from the pit and performed his cremation, trying to mask the odor with perfume.
The family’s unwavering belief in the charmer’s assurances led them to endure a prolonged wait, firmly convinced that Varun would miraculously return to life. This conviction prompted them to restrict access to their home and street, believing in Varun’s imminent return.
Despite being deceived and the charmer’s failure to reappear, the family clung to the hope of their son’s return, even when the promised date of November 19 passed without the charmer’s arrival. Eventually, learning that snake charmers from Rajasthan had supposedly revived another teenager, the family attempted to contact them, only to be met with refusal. Subsequently, they proceeded with Varun’s cremation, relinquishing the lingering hope of his miraculous return.
