No-Confidence Notice Against Om Birla May Be Rejected Over Flaws

Opposition parties are ready to move a no-confidence motion to remove Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla from office. As part of that, they served notices to the Lok Sabha Secretary General on Tuesday. However, Lok Sabha sources revealed that there were errors in those notices. They said that some instances were repeatedly mentioned in them by opposition members.

However, instead of rejecting the notice outright, Speaker Om Birla has reportedly directed the secretariat to rectify the shortcomings in it. Officials said that after receiving the revised notice, they will be examined as per the prescribed norms. It was revealed that the notice will be listed after the second phase of the budget session begins on March 9.

The opposition is set to move a no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla over the denial of an opportunity to Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi to participate in the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address, the suspension of eight members, and the failure to take action against BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, who made baseless allegations against Congress women MPs.
