Awareness on CPR and use of fire extinguishers in area workshop

Area Workshop DGM J. Christopher said that the skill of responding quickly in emergency situations is necessary for every employee and such mock drills increase the awareness of saving lives. Keeping in mind the safety of the employees, a mock drill on CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) and use of fire extinguishers was conducted under the auspices of the rescue team on Tuesday at the area workshop in Kothagudem area of ​​Singareni company. This program was conducted under the supervision of Division Officer J. Christopher and chaired by INTUC FIT Secretary M.D. Sattar Pasha. On this occasion, the rescue personnel made the employees aware through a demonstration on how to respond in emergency situations. The CPR procedure, which is the first aid to be given immediately to a person whose heart or breathing has stopped during an accident, was practically demonstrated. He explained that the first few minutes of cardiac arrest are considered the ‘golden hour’, during which time providing CPR doubles the chances of saving lives. He said that CPR is crucial to maintain blood flow to the brain. He said that by giving chest compressions at a rate of 100 to 120 times per minute, the heart can be temporarily maintained.

He also explained the precautions to be taken in case of fire and the use of fire extinguishers. He said that fire extinguishing equipment is mainly of six classes, namely Class A, B, C, D, E, F/K. Water or foam is used for fires of solid materials like wood and paper, foam, CO₂ or dry powder for flammable liquids like petrol and oil, dry powder for flammable gases, special dry powder for metal fires, CO₂ or dry powder for fires caused by electricity, and wet chemical equipment for fires caused by cooking oils. He said that if these equipment are used properly, loss of life and property damage can be reduced.

Workshop Engineer T. Anil, MRS HOD Anantharamayya, INTUC Fit Secretary M.D. Sattar Pasha, AITUC Fit Secretary M. Madhu Krishna, along with rescue personnel B. Nageswara Rao, M. Shanmukh Chari, supervisors B. Venkatram, D. Bhanuchander, M. Roshan, S. T. Yaqubuddin, workshop employees, trade apprentices, and labor leaders participated in this program.
