Bilaspur. Leader of Opposition in Chhattisgarh Assembly Dr. Charan Das Mahant has given a big statement regarding the ongoing anti-Naxal campaign in Bastar. He said that it is very important to free Bastar from Naxalism, but big industries should not be set up there.

Mahant said that if the government gives contract to industrialists in Bastar, he will oppose it. He said that for the development of Bastar, the participation of local resources and people is necessary, not the interference of outside industrialists.

Mahant, who participated in the Nyay Yatra of District Congress Committee, said that it is our priority to preserve the culture and environment of Bastar region. The rights of the people here should be protected. If the contract is given to industrialists, we will take to the streets and protest. Also, he declared himself out of the race for the post of Chhattisgarh Congress President and said that he is not in this race.
