BCB confirms Bangladesh refuses to travel India for T20 WC 2026

Dhaka: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced that Bangladesh will not travel to India for T20 World Cup 2026 after Mustafizur Rahman’s release from the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squad following a controversy.

After the attack on Hindus in Bangladesh, several people demanded that Bangladeshi players to be banned from the IPL, due to which Rahman was released by the KKR after orders from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Initially, the Bangladesh Cricket Board planned to write letters to the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the International Cricket Council (ICC), but after the Board meeting held today, the decision changed, and now even if BCCI changes its mind, Rahman will not be part of this IPL season.

The development came after Rahman was released from IPL franchise KKR following instructions of the BCCI.

BCB has also formally asked ICC to shift their matches to Sri Lanka due to safety concerns for their players.

The ICC has not yet responded to the BCB’s request, while the BCCI has dismissed the idea of shifting the matches as “logistically impossible”.
