Three killed in hit-and-run on NH-55 in Odisha’s Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: Three people in their 20s were killed when an unidentified speeding vehicle rear-ended their scooter near Gobindpur Chowk on National Highway 55 in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Friday morning.

Neither the deceased nor the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run has been identified yet. Angered by the accident, locals blocked the highway and demanded that the government take steps to prevent frequent accidents on this busy road. Later, police said the blockade was lifted after administrative officials assured them of taking steps to reduce road accidents. They said a case of unnatural death has been registered in this matter. Police said poor visibility due to dense fog could be a factor in the accident.
