Clean chlorinated drinking water is being supplied to homes in Raipur
Raipur. The Municipal Corporation’s Water Department immediately repaired a leak in the drinking water distribution pipeline near Vijay Nagar Chowk after the leak was traced. Since this morning, clean, chlorinated drinking water has been supplied to residents of Sales Tax Colony, Mahamaya Vihar, Pink City, Gayatri Nagar, and Vijay Nagar, all within the Municipal Corporation’s Maharishi Valmiki Ward.
On the instructions of Raipur Municipal Corporation Mayor Meenal Choubey, Water Works Department Chairperson Santosh Seema Sahu, and Commissioner Vishwadeep, teams from the Municipal Corporation’s Water Department, Zone 3, and Zone 9 Water Works Departments have been conducting door-to-door testing of the chlorine content in tap water in Sales Tax Colony, Mahamaya Vihar, Vijay Nagar, Pink City, and Gayatri Nagar, all within the Maharishi Valmiki Ward. Chlorinated tap water has been detected in all homes. All homes are receiving clean drinking water. No complaints of contaminated water have been received.
The Municipal Corporation’s Zone Health Officers of Zones 3 and 9 have been instructed to ensure that all drains in the Maharishi Valmiki Ward area are cleaned within the next week, removing debris and filth, and ensuring that the drains drain smoothly, with continuous monitoring as a priority. The Zone Health Officers have been instructed to immediately inform the Municipal Corporation’s Water Department officials if they spot a pipeline within a drain during the cleaning campaign, so that the pipeline can be removed immediately.
Officials of the Municipal Corporation’s Water Department, Zone 3 and Zone 9, have been instructed to trace the pipelines running within the drains in the Maharishi Valmiki Ward area as a top priority and, with the cooperation of local residents, remove them from the drains. To prevent incidents like the one in Indore from occurring anywhere else in the city, officials have been directed to maintain constant vigilance. The Municipal Corporation Water Department has appealed to the residents of Maharishi Valmiki Ward to cooperate with the staff of Raipur Municipal Corporation Water Department, Zone 3 and Zone 9 Water Department in removing the pipeline passing through the drains located in the ward area as soon as possible.
