Center warns.. Blinkit to cancel delivery in 10 minutes

 It is known that many quick commerce and food delivery companies like Blinkit and Zepto are providing 10-minute delivery facility. However, gig workers (delivery agents) are expressing concern over this decision. They say that they are facing severe pressure for delivery within 10 minutes. The Center also responded to this issue recently. It suggested that the 10-minute delivery feature should be considered.

With this, Blinkit has come down as per the Center’s instructions. It will soon remove the 10-minute delivery facility. Currently, many food delivery and quick commerce companies have introduced the 10-minute delivery feature. Accordingly, delivery agents are facing extreme pressure to deliver every product within ten minutes. The fixed delivery time target is also putting pressure on them. They also do not have facilities like insurance. Gig workers across the country protested on this issue last month. They stopped their services. The Center responded in this context. Union Labor Minister Mansukh Mandaviya responded. Discussions were held with representatives of companies like Jeptoo, Swiggy, Blinkit, and Zomato. It was suggested that the agitation of gig workers be taken into consideration. Companies were warned not to increase pressure on gig workers.

Blinkit has responded to this issue first. It seems that this facility will be removed soon. This feature will not appear in the company’s branding, advertising, and apps. However, company representatives say that they will no longer slow delivery. On the other hand, labor laws are likely to change soon regarding the protection, safety, and other benefits of gig workers. Discussions are underway between company representatives and the government on this.
