Home Minister Faces Legal Trouble Over Fun Bet on Kabaddi Match

Bengaluru: A state home minister has got into trouble. He made a fun bet on the victory of a team during a kabaddi tournament. (G Parameshwara) He himself revealed this. In this context, a person approached the court and the judge ordered a case to be registered against the home minister. This incident took place in Congress-ruled Karnataka. State home minister G Parameshwara participated in the state-level pre-university college kabaddi tournament organized in Tumkur. On this occasion, he predicted that the Vijayapura team would win. He made a fun bet of Rs. 500 with District Deputy Commissioner Shubha Kalyan.

Meanwhile, the Dakshina Kannada team won the Kabaddi match against the Vijayapura team. Home Minister G Parameshwara presented prizes to the winning team. On this occasion, he publicly revealed that he had gambled Rs. 500 on the Kabaddi match and lost.

On the other hand, a man named H.R. Nagabhushan filed a complaint in the court regarding this. He alleged that betting in public, even if done for fun, is illegal. He argued that betting should not be encouraged, especially by a person holding a key constitutional position.

Meanwhile, Judge KN Shivakumar of the 42nd Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Bengaluru took cognizance of the complaint. He directed the police to register a case against Home Minister G Parameshwara for betting on a Kabaddi match and conduct a thorough investigation. In this context, the Police Department has reported this to the Home Ministry.
