CG: 300 liters of raw Mahua liquor seized, two accused arrested
Bilaspur. Bilaspur. Ratanpur police, in a major crackdown on the illegal liquor trade, arrested two liquor vendors in the village of Bachalikhurd. Police seized 300 liters of raw mahua liquor, liquor-making utensils, and equipment from the accused. The estimated value of the seized liquor is approximately 60,000 rupees. This action is considered another major success in the district’s anti-drug campaign. According to information received, under the direction of Superintendent of Police Rajneesh Singh (IPS), a strict campaign is being launched across the district against the illegal liquor trade. In this regard, the Ratanpur police station in-charge, under the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Archana Jha and Kota Sub-Divisional Officer Nupur Upadhyay, formed a special team.
On October 28, police received information from an informant that some people were manufacturing and selling large quantities of illicit liquor in the village of Bachalikhurd. Taking the information seriously, the station in-charge ordered immediate action. A police team arrived at the scene and raided the scene, arresting two individuals on charges of manufacturing and selling liquor. During the raid, police seized 135 liters of raw mahua liquor from the home of Laxman Singh Jagat (52), son of the late Rajaram Jagat, and 165 liters from the home of Kameshwar Raj (19), son of Ramsanehi Raj. Both accused are residents of Bachalikhurd village. Police also recovered drums, containers, pipes, and other equipment used in making liquor from the scene. Police have registered a case against both accused under Section 34(2) of the Excise Act.
The arrested accused have been sent to jail on judicial remand. Police say this action is a strong step toward dismantling the illegal liquor network. The police team included Sub-Inspector Melaram Kathotiya, Head Constable Gajendra Singh, Constables Malik Sahu, Bijendra Ratre, Kirti Paikra, Rajendra Sahu, and female constable Swati Banjare. The team conducted the raid under difficult circumstances and succeeded in seizing a large quantity of illicit liquor. The Ratanpur police station in-charge stated that the police are constantly monitoring those who manufacture and sell illicit liquor in the village and surrounding areas. He stated that strict action will continue against such individuals to eradicate the root of drug addiction in society. The police department has also appealed to the villagers to immediately report any information about the sale or manufacture of illicit liquor to the police so that timely action can be taken. The administration believes that only with the cooperation of the society and the police can this illegal trade be completely eradicated.
