₹111 crore allocated for relief to farmers affected by cyclone ‘Tithwa’

Tamil Nadu: The government on Thursday issued a government order providing relief of Rs 111.96 crore for 1.39 lakh acres of agricultural and horticultural crops affected by Cyclone ‘Tithwa’.
It is reported that 84,848 affected farmers in Ariyalur, Chengalpattu, Cuddalore, Coimbatore, Dharmapuri, Dindigul, Kallakurichi, Kanchipuram, Kanyakumari, Krishnagiri, Madurai, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Nilgiris, Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Ranipet, Salem, Sivaganga, Tenkasi, Thanjavur, Theni, Tirunelveli, Tirupattur, Tiruvallur, Tiruvarur, Thoothukudi, Tiruppur, Tiruvannamalai, Trichy, Vellore, Villupuram and Virudhunagar districts will receive this relief amount directly in their bank accounts.
Heavy rains and Cyclone Titwa during the 2025-2026 Northeast monsoon season damaged 1.39 lakh acres of agricultural and horticultural crops.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin ordered the Revenue and Agriculture Departments to immediately survey the impact.
He subsequently ordered a relief of ₹20,000 per hectare for crops, including paddy. Accordingly, a survey of more than 33% of the affected crop area was conducted, and a proposal was received from the District Magistrate.
Based on this, the Tamil Nadu government on Thursday issued a government order to provide ₹111.96 crore in relief from the State Disaster Relief Fund for agricultural and horticultural crops affected by Cyclone Titwa and the Northeast monsoon.
The government order to provide ₹20,000 relief amount was issued in December 2025. Rs 289.63 crore will be given to benefit 3.60 lakh farmers affected by the North-East monsoon in November and December 2024 and unseasonal rains in January 2025.
