Tamil Nadu: Elderly woman saved from attempted robbery in auto

CHENNAI: An 81-year-old woman has lodged a police complaint after she was allegedly attacked by the driver of the auto in which she was traveling near Tiruvottiyur on Tuesday night. The woman told the police that the man took the auto to an isolated place and tried to rob me, but after hearing my scream, a two-wheeler rider reached the spot and ran away from there. D Santhanmari is a resident of Kasimedu and had boarded the auto from Tondiarpet.

When the driver threatened to snatch her money and earrings and attacked her, she got down from the auto and raised an alarm. Then a two-wheeler rider passing by questioned the driver, after which he fled from the spot. Investigation is going on.
