The decorative Urdu script of Tamil Nadu expresses traditional pride along with modernity.
Tamil Nadu: The Tamil Nadu tableau at the 77th Republic Day parade on Kartavya Path in Delhi on Monday was designed to showcase both modernity and traditional pride.
This year, the Republic Day parade featured tableaux based on the theme ‘Mantra of Prosperity: Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India), depicting the state as a custodian of tradition and a leader in development driven by innovation.
Tamil Nadu’s tableau was the sixth in the parade, following Gujarat.
The front of the tableau featured a techno-Jallikattu, symbolizing Tamil Nadu’s cultural strength and indomitable spirit. This visual representation depicted bravery, skill, and tradition, with two athletes bravely taming a ferocious Jallikattu bull. The bull’s figure was designed with luminous circular shapes to represent the fusion of tradition and technology.
The main section of the tableau was designed to highlight Tamil Nadu’s emergence as one of the leading hubs for electric vehicle manufacturing in India and to showcase advanced electric vehicle and battery manufacturing for clean transportation.
Robotic arms connecting battery units were designed to represent automation, precision, and industrial excellence.
Simultaneously, an electric vehicle charging station was also depicted, reaffirming the state’s commitment to clean and sustainable mobility.
On the rear of the tableau, a visual was designed to showcase green technology and sustainable development. A tree was depicted to represent nature and the environment, showcasing the harmony between modernity and nature. It was also shown to represent the balance between ecology and industry.
The overall aim was to portray Tamil Nadu as a state deeply rooted in its cultural identity, driven by innovation, and committed to building a self-reliant, sustainable India.
During the parade, 12 women, six on each side of the tableau, performed the peacock dance and played cymbals. This captivated the audience and received enthusiastic applause. Similarly,
the statue of the bull shaking its head also attracts visitors.
