The student had reached the college to take the exam, jumped from the building on the pretext of going to the washroom
Karnataka: A Class 12 student allegedly committed suicide by jumping from a college building in Shivamogga district. Meghasree, 18, of Channapura village in Davangere district, took the horrific step on the premises of Adichunchanagiri College in Sharavati Nagar, Shivamogga.
According to the police, Meghashree had come to the college to appear for the biology exam. During the examination, he asked for permission to go to the washroom and then committed suicide. After getting information about the incident, the parents of the deceased reached the college. Meghashree’s father Omkaraiya alleged the involvement of the college management, hostel warden and lecturer in his daughter’s death. Omkaraiya said he had paid Rs 4.5 lakh in fees, but faced opposition from college authorities when he tried to enter the campus.
After strong opposition from the family he was finally allowed inside. Meghashree’s parents argue with the principal and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Suresh over their daughter’s death. Meghashree lived in the college hostel. The police suspect homesickness as a possible cause of her death, with the parents refusing to accept this explanation.
