Those who could not become ministers should have patience like me: D.K. shivkumar
Bengaluru (IANS) | Amid voices of protest against Congress leaders being denied ministerial berths in Karnataka, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Saturday advised the ‘disappointed’ leaders to work patiently and persistently like him. Shivakumar said, I did not get the opportunity to join the cabinet during the Congress government led by late Dharam Singh and the previous government led by Siddaramaiah. But I didn’t lose my patience. Similarly, those who have not been given ministerial posts should also be patient. Shivkumar questioned, everyone is going to get a chance, why won’t they get it.
Meanwhile, prominent Lingayat priest Guru Siddharajyogendra Swamiji has urged the Congress government to give a ministerial berth to Laxman Savadi, who quit the BJP and joined the Congress.
Former Chief Ministers Jagadish Shettar and Laxman Savadi are experienced and good natured politicians, they should have found a place in the cabinet. He said, if Laxman Savadi is included in the cabinet, it will benefit the party.
Laxman Savadi’s supporters have started posting messages on social media targeting Siddaramaiah.
The post claimed, “You (Siddaramaiah) said that Laxman Savadi joining Congress has brought new strength to the party.” Savadi is the reason for Congress winning more seats in Belagavi district. Despite this, you have conveniently forgotten them.
Supporters of senior leader M. Krishnappa and his son MLA Priyakrishna staged a sit-in in front of the Raj Bhavan over their non-inclusion in the cabinet. Krishnappa represents Vijayanagara and Priyakrishna represents the Govindarajanagara seat in Bengaluru.
Senior Congress leader Puttarangsetty from Chamarajanagar, who defeated former BJP minister V. Somanna, has refused the post of deputy speaker of the assembly. He was expected to join the cabinet this time. He had told the party that he would continue as MLA.
Veteran Congress leader R.V. Deshpande, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council B.K. Hariprasad is upset as he too has been denied the ministerial post.
