Southern Railway extends Hebbal-Rameswaram weekly express trains till June

Tamil Nadu: Southern Railway has decided to extend the operation of several weekly express trains until June, responding to increased passenger traffic and high travel demand during the summer holidays. A press release was issued by Southern Railway on Sunday, detailing the extended train services.

According to the information, the weekly express train (number 07355) between Hebbal and Rameswaram, which departs from Hebbal every Sunday, will now operate until June 28th instead of June 7th. Similarly, the weekly express train (number 07356) between Rameswaram and Hebbal, which departs from Rameswaram every Monday, will now operate until June 29th instead of June 8th. According to the railway, this decision was taken for passenger convenience and to address the additional rush.

In addition, Southern Railway has also announced that the weekly express trains between Hebbal and Kollam and Bengaluru and Thiruvananthapuram will also be extended until June. These routes also experience a significant increase in passenger traffic during the summer season, resulting in reduced seat availability.

According to railway officials, during the summer holidays, a large number of people travel to their hometowns and tourist destinations, causing heavy rush on regular trains. In response, additional trains and special services are being operated to ensure passengers do not face any inconvenience.

Southern Railway also stated that bookings for trains on many routes are currently complete, making it difficult for passengers to obtain confirmed tickets. Keeping this in mind, the number of special trains is being increased. Officials stated that additional trains may be added in the future based on passenger demand.

The railway administration stated that this step was taken to provide better passenger facilities and manage crowds. This situation is particularly pronounced on major routes in South India, where passenger pressure is increased due to both pilgrimage and tourism.

Passengers have welcomed this decision, as it will make it easier for them to plan their travels and increase their chances of getting confirmed tickets. The Railways has urged passengers to check schedules and availability before traveling.
