Woman diagnosed with West Nile fever in Alappuzha

ALAPPUZHA: A 55-year-old resident of Haripad’s Thrikunnapuzha has been diagnosed with West Nile fever. After developing strong head ache, she was first admitted to Fisheries Hospital in Pallana and then to Alappuzha Medical College Hospital. The disease was confirmed on Friday. With this, disease surveillance and prevention activities have been strengthened in the area. West Nile case was reported in the district last year as well. The District Medical Officer informed that there is no cause for concern at present.
