Neena Gupta remembers coming to Mumbai with her then boyfriend
Neena Gupta has seen the ups and downs of life before reaching where she is today. The actress always displays positive emotions and inspires others to be strong and independent. In a recent interview, the film veteran talked about her early days when she came to Mumbai with her then boyfriend.
In a candid conversation with ETimes, Neena Gupta revealed it all. The actress narrated how she came to Mumbai from Delhi with her then boyfriend in 1981 as she did not have the courage to take the step alone. Talking about her struggling days, she said, “When I came to Mumbai, I used to make bharta at Prithvi Café so that I could get free food there. I came here from Delhi with my boyfriend because I didn’t have the courage to come alone.”
The Badhaai Ho actress further revealed that her boyfriend at that time used to tell her, “Be ashamed, you have come to become a Bombay maid. Have you come to do this? (Have some shame. Have you come to Mumbai to be a servant and cook?)” She said he used to ask her for money for cigarettes and yet he had the nerve to say that she should be ashamed of working.
