Iceland: A volcano erupted near the fishing town of Grindavik in southwestern Iceland on Sunday, which has been evacuated, media reports said.
The eruption began at around 03.00 GMT, but it was not clear in which direction the lava was flowing, the BBC quoted Iceland’s public broadcaster RUV as saying.
This is the second eruption in the region in less than a month, after the Svartsengi volcanic system began erupting on December 18 last year. Iceland has more than 30 active volcanic systems.
