Two accused of animal cruelty arrested, 9 cattle freed
Raigarh. Aftab Khan and Mohammad Junaid Alam of Kotangartoli, Lodam district Jashpur have been caught by Gharghoda police while smuggling cattle in a pickup vehicle. Nine farm cattle, which were cruelly crammed into a pickup vehicle, have been freed from the possession of the accused and action has been taken against the accused under the Cruelty to Animals Act.
Regarding animal smuggling, reporter Yash Sinha, resident of Navapara Gharghoda, applied in Gharghoda police station and lodged a report stating that on the night of 28.01.2024, while coming to Gharghoda from Kapitpathra with his friends Ayush Dansena, Sudhir Panda, at around 01:00, near Power Grid Chuhkimar Gharghoda. Road side vehicle pickup no. in the main road. The driver of JH-01-DT-2209 and Helfer were being beaten up by some unknown people, who fled from the spot when they arrived. 09 cattle were kept crammed in a very small space in the shed behind the vehicle pickup. After being informed at the police station, Gharghoda police reached the spot, after interrogating the driver of the vehicle, Mohd. Junaid Alam and Helfar Aftab Khan, both residents of Sai Tangartoli, Lodam district, Jashpur, told that they were taking the cattle from Raigarh to Tangartoli for slaughter.
