Textile park to come up in Bolangir soon: CM

Bhubaneswar/Bolangir: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced on Friday that a sugar mill and a textile park will soon be built in Bolangir.

Attending the state-level National Panchayati Raj Day celebrations in Bolangir, Majhi said the state government is committed to fulfilling the vision of building a developed India under the strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said, “Our government is prioritizing water, land, forest protection, education, health, employment, and women’s empowerment in rural areas.”

On this occasion, the CM inaugurated 304 development projects worth ₹580 crore in the district. While 268 projects worth ₹329 crore were dedicated to the public, the foundation stone was laid for 36 projects, including a new nursing college worth ₹252 crore at Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital. “A sugar mill and a textile park will soon be built in Bolangir,” the CM announced. The CM initiated the distribution of work orders and the first installment of funds to over 50,000 beneficiaries under the Antyodaya Housing Scheme.

He also launched the ‘Panchayati Raj Review’ portal and the ‘e-Panchayat Sabha’ portal. The CM further stated that pucca houses are being provided to poor and needy families through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Antyodaya Housing Scheme.

He further stated that Odisha will receive 1 million houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in the coming days. He added, “To fulfill the vision of a developed India and a prosperous Odisha, we have launched a major scheme to empower the poor, women, and youth.” Majhi appealed to everyone to work together as a team to build prosperous panchayats, prosperous cities, and a prosperous Odisha.

Encouraging the panchayat representatives, the CM shared his experiences and lessons learned as a sarpanch, saying, “Today is the time for panchayat representatives to work for the development of all – the poor, women, youth, and farmers.” On this occasion, the CM presented awards to districts, blocks, and gram panchayats for their outstanding work in the areas of MGNREGS and rural housing.

Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo said, “Our government’s primary goal is to build a developed Odisha and strong villages. Therefore, Panchayati Raj institutions must be strengthened.” Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik said that rural empowerment and people-centered governance have been identified as the cornerstones of a developed Odisha. The 2026-27 budget has allocated ₹44,309 crore for rural development. Naik said, “This demonstrates our government’s commitment to the overall development of rural Odisha.” Health and Family Welfare and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahaling said, “Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi at the Center and CM Mohan Charan Majhi in the state, the benefits of the Panchayati Raj system have reached every household today.

Our government is providing all facilities to the people of rural Odisha through the Panchayati Raj Department.
