Tamil Nadu Government Transfers 15 IPS Officers; Major Reshuffle in Police Administration

Tamil Nadu: The Tamil Nadu government has issued transfer orders for 15 IPS officers, undertaking a major reshuffle within the state police administration. In this regard, the order was issued by K. Manivasan, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Home Department. This administrative change is being viewed as a significant step toward making law and order and police management in the state even more effective.
According to the issued order, several senior officers have been assigned new responsibilities, while some have been transferred out of key departments. The transfer list includes officers of the DGP and IG ranks, whose responsibilities have undergone major changes.
G. Venkataraman has now been appointed as the DGP of Civil Supplies and the Crime Investigation Department. Previously, he served as the DGP in the Police Administration Division. Given his experience, he has been entrusted with the responsibility of these critical departments related to crime investigation and civil supplies.
K. Bhavaneeswari has been posted as the IG of the Special Task Force (STF). Prior to this, she served as the IG of the General Division at Police Headquarters. Her new role is considered crucial for special operations and strategic actions within the state.
Avinash Kumar has been appointed as the IG of the General Division at Police Headquarters. He was previously on the compulsory waiting list. With this appointment, he has been entrusted with administrative responsibilities once again.
Praveen Kumar Abhinav has been appointed as the IG for the Chennai North Zone. Previously, he served as the IG in the General Division at Headquarters. This appointment is considered significant from the perspective of maintaining law and order in the Chennai North Zone.
This comprehensive reshuffle undertaken by the government is being viewed as an effort to strike an administrative balance and strengthen police functioning. It is anticipated that changes to the portfolios of other officers may also take place in the near future.
Following this order, activity within the Police Department regarding the assumption of new responsibilities has intensified, and all officers have begun preparations to take charge of their respective new posts.
