Liquor smugglers attack police team, Home Guard jawan dies
Motihari (IANS). During action against liquor smugglers in Jharokhar police station area of East Champaran district of Bihar, the excise department team was attacked. A Home Guard soldier was killed in this attack.
According to the police, the team of Excise Department was checking with breath analyzer near Jharokhar bridge on Monday night. During the investigation, a person was confirmed to be drinking alcohol. The excise police was going to arrest him and make him sit in the car and conduct raids. At the same time, due to noise, the villagers gathered and attacked the excise department team itself.
Due to the sudden attack, the team of excise department retreated, but a soldier of Home Guard Hriday Narayan Rai got caught by the smugglers. The mob thrashed the jawan fiercely.
Some other jawans are also reported to have been injured in this attack. In a hurry, the jawan was taken to the hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead.
The deceased jawan was a resident of Regania village in the police station area.
Superintendent of Police Kantesh Kumar Mishra, who reached Sadar Hospital after getting information about the incident, told that five people are being interrogated in this matter by taking them into custody. He told that some public representatives have also been identified, on which action will also be taken.
