Australia made no changes to the playing eleven for the Boxing Day Test.
MELBOURNE: Melbourne hometown star Scott Boland is still out as Australia announced an unchanged playing XI for the Boxing Day Test against Pakistan on Monday.
Australia confirmed an unchanged playing XI a day before the match and captain Pat Cummins admitted that Boland was unlucky to be left out.
Boland announced himself to the world when he took 6-7 on his debut against England at the MCG in the 2021-22 Ashes.
But he will remain on the sidelines as fast bowlers like Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood are fit to take part in the second Test on Tuesday.
“We’re huge fans of Scotty’s, I don’t think it’s any secret. It is very rare that you play seven Test matches with the same (fast) bowling line-up, there are always some glitches or things that pop up,” Cummins was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au.
“If anything happens he is ready to go, so I am sure he will play a role at some point. The message (to Boland) is always ‘we like what you’re bringing, unfortunately, you missed out on it but don’t change… and be ready’, Cummins said.
Pakistan announced a squad of 12 players for the second Test, but kept the final combination to themselves.
One of the most notable changes in the team is that Sarfaraz Ahmed was dropped from the Test team after going through a nightmare in the Peth Test. He scored just 7 runs in both innings with Mitchell Starc causing all kinds of trouble.
Mohammad Rizwan has been included in his place and there have been some other changes as well, fast bowler Khurram Shehzad has been ruled out of the series due to injury, while all-rounder Faheem Ashraf will also be out of the series after a poor test with the bat. . Ball in Perth.
