Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will remain in jail for now

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has got a big relief from the Supreme Court. The court granted him interim bail on Friday. Kejriwal is accused of money laundering related to the Delhi liquor scam.

Kejriwal has been granted this bail in the ED case. A separate CBI case is going on against him. The Central Bureau of Investigation is questioning him in a separate case. This means that Kejriwal will not be able to come out of jail right now. The court, while granting him interim bail in the excise policy case filed by the ED, said, Kejriwal has served jail sentence for more than 90 days. A bench of Justices Sanjeev Khanna and Dipankar Dutta gave this verdict.

The court has granted him interim bail till the hearing of the larger bench. The court said that we have also raised questions regarding election funding. In such a situation, arrest cannot be allowed on the basis of interrogation alone. The court has now sent the matter to the Chief Justice for the formation of a three-judge bench. After the court’s decision, Aam Aadmi Party wrote on its X handle – Satyamev Jayate.

Let us tell you that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 in the money laundering case related to the Delhi liquor scam. In his petition, Kejriwal had challenged the Delhi High Court’s April 9 order, in which he was denied relief.

The High Court had upheld Kejriwal’s arrest in the case and said that there was nothing illegal in it. The court had said that the central investigating agency had “very few options” left, as he did not respond to repeated summons and refused to join the investigation. Then in view of the general elections, the court gave Kejriwal relief for election campaigning, although he had to surrender after the elections ended on June 2.

Let us tell you that in the Delhi liquor scam case, the ED had filed a charge sheet a few days ago in which 38 people were made accused. Kejriwal has been made accused number 37 in the charge sheet. At the same time, Aam Aadmi Party has been made accused number 38. In this charge sheet of ED, Arvind Kejriwal was called the kingpin and it was also said that he was aware of the use of bribe money in Goa election and he was involved in it.
