Four people, including a Shiv Sena corporator, surrendered in the case involving the assault on a doctor.
Thane. Shiv Sena councilor Ramesh Mhatre and three other accused, the main accused in the case related to the attack on a doctor in Maharashtra’s Thane district, have surrendered before the trial court. After the Supreme Court canceled their bail, all four accused reached the court on Sunday and surrendered. After this the court sent him to judicial custody. According to officials, all four accused have been sent to Aadharwadi jail located in Kalyan.
The case pertains to an alleged attack on a doctor. Ramesh Mhatre has been made the main accused in this case. Along with him, three other accused involved in the case also surrendered before the court. Earlier, the accused were granted bail, but after the Supreme Court canceled the bail, they were forced to surrender in the court.
Officials said that on Sunday all four accused appeared before the concerned trial court of Thane district. After the completion of the surrender process before the court, orders were given to send him to judicial custody. After this, as per the prescribed procedure of police and jail administration, the accused were sent to Aadharwadi jail of Kalyan.
Ramesh Mhatre is active in local politics and is a councilor associated with Shiv Sena. His name had come up as the main accused in the case of attack on the doctor. However, the final decision on the charges in the case will be based on the evidence available and hearing in the trial court. The charges against the accused are currently subject to judicial trial.
