Gun factory busted, 7 arrested, some managed to escape taking advantage of darkness
Patna: Bihar Police has busted a gun factory operating in a village in Bhojpur district and arrested seven people involved in operating the factory. Officials gave this information on Sunday.
According to Bhojpur SP Pramod Kumar Yadav, the factory was operating in the village for a long time. Yadav said, we received information about the gun factory, which was running in the house of Virendra Kumar Srivastava in Chanda village under Naya Bhojpur police station. After this, a special team was formed under the leadership of Dumraon SDPO Afaq Akhtar Ansari to investigate the matter.
The team raided the premises. During this, seven accused were arrested. However, some people managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness. During the raid, Bhojpur police recovered one pistol, 35 tiger plates, 36 cork rods, 33 barrels, 20 butts, three drill machines, one lathe machine, one grinder and three mobile phones.
The arrested persons have been identified as Virendra Kumar Srivastava, Pintu Shah, Mohammad Azad, Mohammad Monu, Mohammad Abdul, Mohammad Raju and Mohammad Iqbal. According to the police, Virendra Srivastava is the mastermind of operating the mini gun factory. The SP said that both Virendra and Pintu are natives of Bhojpur and Sitamarhi districts, while the other accused hailed from Munger district and were workers in the factory. They were skilled in making country-made pistols and “kattas”.
SP Yadav further said that an FIR has been registered at Naya Bhojpur police station under various sections of the Arms Act and BNS Act and further investigation into the case is underway. Also, the police are investigating the links of the accused to whom the guns were being supplied.
