Navi Mumbai: CM Eknath Shinde inaugurates PMC’s integrated property transfer system

Navi Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde recently inaugurated the Integrated Property Transfer System facility implemented by the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) Property Tax Department along with the Registration and Stamps Department of the Government of Maharashtra. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Guardian Minister Uday Samant, Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare, MLA Bharat Gogwale, Prashant Thakur, Ravindra Patil, Mahendra Thorve, Mahesh Baldi, Mahendra Dalvi were also present.

‘Government at your doorstep’ initiative

To be implemented under the ‘Government at your doorstep’ initiative, the program was organized at Lonere, Mangaon. PMC is the first civic body in Maharashtra to implement this facility.

With this, PMC takes a step towards providing facilities in an integrated manner (through an integrated web-based portal) to various citizen services provided to citizens through citizen self-governance under the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ initiative. Have taken it forward. This new facility will be started to make the services provided by the Municipal Corporation more transparent.

Details of new scheme

After the purchase and sale of a property, the property is recorded on the property card and tax payment records. Under this new facility, it will be necessary to enter the property identification number on corporation tax payment while registering the property with the Assistant Registrar.

“Property owners should ensure that they have paid the property tax in full along with the dues at the time of purchasing the property and attach the receipt to their records. If the property owner mentions the property code number in his registration form, his name will be immediately entered in the municipal property tax system. As a result, the property buyer will not have to make a separate application to register his name as a taxpayer with the municipality. Also, property owners will be able to make their tax payments easily on the corporation’s website,” said PMC Commissioner Ganesh Deshmukh.

Citizens will benefit greatly from this facility and will save both their time and money. A board giving information about this facility has also been installed at the Assistant Registrar Office, Panvel so that property owners can get information about it.

‘PMC Tax App’

The civic body is receiving good response from property owners while paying property tax for the current financial year. From April 2023 to January 5, 2024, Rs 236 crore has been added to the citizen’s treasury. Property owners are being given a rebate of 2% on paying property tax online.

The Corporation has also developed ‘PMC Tax App’ for online payment of property tax. Citizens can also pay tax by visiting the website www.panvelmc.org

Benefits of Automated Taxpayer Registration System

  1. Taxpayer registration will save time and the process will be completely paperless.
  2. Human errors are to be reduced.
  3. The name of the asset holder is included with 100 percent accuracy.
  4. Citizens will not need to come to the corporation to change the name of the property.
  5. There will be no human intervention in the documents.
  6. Administration will be done in a people-oriented and transparent manner.
